Sports Premium

PE & Sport Premium Statement

The PE & Sport Premium is Government funding provided to primary schools in England to improve the quality of physical education (PE), sport and physical activity offered to pupils.

Purpose and Ambition

We recognise that PE, sport and physical activity play a vital role in promoting children’s health, wellbeing, physical literacy, personal development and academic attainment. The funding enables schools to:

  • add to and improve the PE, sport and physical activity provision beyond the basic curriculum;
  • build capacity and capability within the school ensuring improvements are sustainable and benefit future cohorts of pupils;
  • offer a broader, more equal and inclusive range of sports and physical activities to all pupils, regardless of background or ability;
    encourage regular physical activity and healthy, active lifestyles for all children;

What the funding can and should be used for

The primary condition is that any use of the funding must lead to additional and sustainable improvements to the school’s provision of PE, sport and physical activity. (GOV.UK)

Funding Allocation

  • Funding is calculated based on the number of pupils in Years 1–6.
  • Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil. (GOV.UK)
  • Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 plus £10 per pupil. (GOV.UK)

Our Commitment

We are committed to using our PE & Sport Premium funding strategically, transparently and effectively. Our aims are to:

  • Ensure all pupils benefit from high-quality, inclusive PE and sport provision, regardless of background or ability.
  • Develop our staff’s skills and confidence so that improvements are sustainable long-term, not dependent on external providers.
  • Broaden the range of activities available including competitive sport, extracurricular clubs, new and creative physical activities, and targeted support for less active or disadvantaged pupils.
  • Monitor and evaluate our use of the funding rigorously tracking participation, engagement, attainment (including swimming/water safety), and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Report annually (via our website) on how we spend the funding, what impact it has had, and plans for sustaining or building on those gains in future years.
